An interview gives you the opportunity to showcase your qualifications to an employer, Proper preparation helps alleviate some of the stress involved in job interviews.
Here are some tips and strategies for effective interviewing from preparation through follow up -
Preparation for the interview :
Learn about the organization. If possible go through the website of the organisation and look a brief about it.
Review your resume. Be sure you know it by heart.Revisit your resume from the point of view of the interviewer which helps you to face interview better.
Be ready to briefly describe your experience, showing how it relates it the job.
Be ready to answer macro questions like"Why should I hire you?" "Why do you want this job? "Why do you want to work here?" " Why do you think you are fit for this job "? What are your strengths and weaknesses?"
Practice an interview with a friend or relative. Monk interview. One can practice in front of mirror.
Personal Looks / appearance:
Be well groomed ,neat and tidy and clean Shavian .
Dress appropriately. Don't wear flashy clothes.
The interview:
Be on time. Be10 min before to avoid being late.
Remember to bring an extra copy of your resume and a list of references.
Learn the name of your interviewer and greet him or her with a firm handshake.
Use good manners with everyone you meet.
During the interview try to remain as calm as possible. Ask for clarification if you're not sure what's been asked and remember that it is perfectly acceptable to take a moment or two to frame your responses so you can be sure too fully answer the question.
Relax and answer each question concisely.
Avoid slang.
Use positive body language to show interest. Always make an eye contact .
Thank the interviewer when you leave and shake hands.
Information to bring to an interview:
Resume or application Copy .
Documents which be able to furnish the interviewer information about your training, and previous employment offer letter ,Character certificates etc
References. Make sure that they will give you a good reference.
Transcripts. Employers may require an official copy of transcripts to verify grades, coursework, dates of attendance, and highest grade completed or degree awarded.
Follow Up
Always follow up with a short thank you note following the interview and If you interview with multiple people send each one a thank you note.
